i might not have been brave enough to write this song. holiday childress and i were meeting to play music together. it was hard for me to get into the collaborative songwriting part. i don't think i was ready to show my raw thoughts to somebody else. that's probably why the meetings didn't last long. but holiday had an idea... a really nice hook (the chorus, which he sang in a more connected and melodic way, and sort of creepy and ironic like the pixies) and some lyrics, and he said i could finish the words, so i took the missionary theme and thought that through the lens of codependent young love.
